SIASU EDUCATIONAL AWARDS 2012

 

1.         We are pleased to inform you that application for SIASU EducationalAwards for the
year 2012 is now opened. Members and whose children who are eligible to apply for the awards may collect the application form from SIASU office at Airline House, Core 5A or download it from SIASU website at http://www.siasu.org.sg or/and from the SIAEC and SIA EBB.   

 

2.             There are three categories of award: -

PSLE

$100

Applicants must pass the 2011 Singapore PSLE Examination.

 

2.

GCE 'O' Level / Integrated Programme

$200

Applicants must possess the 2011 Singapore GCE 'O' level Examination Certificate or Secondary 4 School Final Examination Result for students from the Integrated Programme.

 

3.

GCE 'A' Level /

International

Baccalaureate /

Polytechnic Diploma

$300

Applicants must possess the 2011 Singapore GCE 'A' level Examination Certificate or

the International Baccalaureate Diploma or

Diplomas from a recognised local polytechnic.

 

 

3.             Book Prize

 

The Committee shall also be giving out a "Book Prize" for the top successful applicant in the three categories. This is to encourage students to excel in their studies. Selection for the award will be based on the examination results only.

 

4.             Conditions Governing the ‘Awards’

 

a.         Member must have at least one year of continuous membership with the Union as at 30th April 2012.

b.         Where both parents are members of SIASU, only one application shall be submitted for each award type, for each child.

c.         Members should meet the requirements laid down in the rules. Those with arrears, suspended or resigned from membership will not qualify.

d.            No award shall be claimed as a matter of right or entitlement.

e.             It shall be within the powers of the Executive Council or its appointed committee as the case may be to approve, disapprove, defer or reject an application without assigning any reason thereto.

 

5.         Types of Application Form

 

a.     PSLE Award  - those who passed their 2011 PSLE examination need to complete this form.

b.    GCE 'O' Award / Integrated Programme - those who possess the 2011 Singapore GCE 'O' Level Examination Certificate or Secondary 4 School Final Examination Result for students in the Integrated Programme need to complete this form.

c.     GCE 'A' / International Baccalaureate / Polytechnic Diploma Award   - those who possess the 2011 Singapore GCE 'A' Level Examination Certificate or the International Baccalaureate or Polytechnic Diploma need to complete this form.  

 

6.         Closing Date

 

You are requested to submit all completed application forms with the necessary photocopies of documents to SIASU office at Core 5A, Airline House, no later than 30th April 2012. No applications shall be entertained after the closing date.

 

7.         We shall inform you of the results, date and venue of the Educational Awards Presentation Ceremony by post. The names of all the successful candidates will also be posted on the Internet at http://www.siasu.org.sg

  RESTORATION OF SALARY REDUCTION AT AGE 60  
     
 

We are pleased to inform that the SIA Group of Companies namely, SIA Engineering Company, SilkAir, SIA Cargo and Tradewinds had agreed to cease the 10% salary reduction, which was in practice since the year 1999. This was the year the salary cut came into effect when the retirement age was extended from 60 to 62 years old.

The Companies shall cease the 10% salary reduction of all affected staff members with effect from 1st April 2011. Staff members who had turned 60 years old earlier, shall have the salary cut restored from 1st April 2011.

All other staff members who reach age of 60 after 1st April 2011 shall NOT have their salary reduced by virtue of turning 60 years old.

 
     
  Update: 11 April 2011  
  SERVICE INCREMENT (SI) FOR YEAR 2011  
     
  We are pleased to inform that negotiations between the Union and the Company (Singapore Airlines) on SI for the year 2011 and the restoration of wage cut at age 60 years have been successfully concluded. It is a mile stone achievement to reach the agreements on the above-mentioned subjects on 8th April 2011. The implementations and payments shall be applicable to all eligible staff members in accordance with the agreement made by both parties.

Payment of SI
The SI shall be effective from 1st July 2011 and shall be paid in your July 2011 salary.


*a) SI built-in increment shall be applicable to eligible staff members whose salary are within the applicable salary range as at 30th June 2011.

*b) Lump sum payment shall be applicable to eligible staff members who had reached or exceeded the applicable salary maximum as at 30th June 2011. They shall be paid a one-off lump sum, based on 13 months of their applicable SI built-in x 70%, as tabulated:

Pro-rated Lump Sum Payment
Staff members who receive less than the SI set out as above to reach the salary maximum as at 30th June 2011, shall receive a built-in SI to enable the salary to reach the maximum point of the applicable salary range. The balance of the SI shall be paid as one-off lump sum on a pro-rated basis as applicable.

Eligibility for Service Increment
The SI built-in and lump sum payment effective 1st July 2011 shall be paid only to those staff members who are still in service at the date of payment and, whose work and conduct have been satisfactory during the period of review.
 
     
  Update: 11 April 2011

It is a mile stone achievement to reach the agreements on the above-mentioned subjects on 4th April 2011. The implementations and payments shall be applicable to all eligible staff members in accordance with the agreement made by both parties.

SERVICE AGREEMENT (SI) – YEAR 2011

Payment of SI
The SI shall be effective from 1st April 2011 and shall be paid in your April 2011 salary.


*a) SI built-in increment shall be applicable to eligible staff members whose salary are within the applicable salary range as at 31ST March 2011.

*b) Lump sum payment shall be applicable to eligible staff members who had reached or exceeded the applicable salary maximum as at 31st March 2011. They shall be paid a one-off lump sum, based on 13 months of their applicable SI built-in x 75%, as tabulated:
